The Frozen C Within Us

I am starting my final week of treatment.  On Thursday I fly down to the hospital for graduation day, no cap and gown but a kind of ceremony, a blood rite between conspirators.  Thereafter, I will have to travel to Virginia only once every few months to check on whether the hepatitis C virus has returned, it is presumed that if  the virus is still undetectable 12 weeks later it won’t come back at all.  If it does come back I don’t know what I would do – probably wait for the next generation of antivirals to be approved by the FDA unless there is a new clinical trial that allows relapsers in.  I am keeping my fingers and toes and eyes crossed.
