Credit Where Due

Sometimes when I hear

Mothers say very seriously

That their greatest achievement is their children

I squirm inside

In embarrassment for them

After all I have children too

Wonderful people, beautiful and kind and creative

Smart and loving

But children deserve all the credit for themselves

My greatest achievement is my husband

I should get a medal for him.
