Writing about death is like homeopathy

You do it in the hope

That taking death in small doses

Will reduce its impact, maybe

Even help you accept death

A little death essay here

A death haiku there

Trot out your words about death and find

You are cured of the fear of dying

And if a shiver grips you later on

If mortality looks particularly grim one day

Just take another drop or two

Perhaps write a poem

Death will shrink into the background

No prescription necessary

For today.
