Words

This is what I was to my father:

Lazy, boy-crazy, phony.

And I must say I believed what he said

His words were so heavy

That it never occurred to me to

Disbelieve.

Even today

Really every day

I must run through a mental list of

My achievements

To convince myself that I am accomplished and authentic.

But he was right about the boy-crazy.
