Sadness Go Away

My husband gets very sad

Because of the virus

And the economy

And the political situation

And the dozens of killing wars

I could go on but you get the idea

Sometimes he doesn’t feel that any

Part of life

Is worth living

Except he says

When he goes to his shop

And makes a contraption or fixes a machine

He’s okay for awhile and

The sun shines.

For my part

I don’t think people are made for sadness

Happiness is really the only compensation we have

For an ephemeral existence.
