Unsibling

This is sibling day

I never heard of it

And I don’t have a sibling.

I am an only child

And only fleetingly ever wished I had a

Brother or sister

Mostly to distract my parents

I wanted a successful, good looking, attention-worthy sibling

So I could skulk in the dark alleys of failure

And be left alone.

On the other hand

I wasn’t crazy about

Cutting up the pie of my parent’s largess

Financial or emotional

The long and the short is

I have no sibling

My parents are dead

So it’s just another day

Here at solitary city.
