Jungle Fever

As restless as I am

I resist change

I want the exact cream in my coffee

The familiar scarf around my throat.

I want my husband to love me like

He did forty years ago.

We can go on safari with trunks of clothing

Tea sets from home

Live under a cabana in the jungle

Sit drinking java

Surrounded by elephants and stilt birds

Singing for us

Because I am

An explorer who has carried my world

And my husband

On my back.
