Hollyhocks Have Grown

Outside my house

For fifty years,

Tall blossoms with carnivorous smiles

Samson yellow, sandalwood, salmonette

taller than my cat

Steeper than a flagpole

Flower faces peer through the window

Watching me

All nonchalant and indifferent

But I know better

They are just waiting

To see me naked.

I am a bit of an exhibitionist anyway.
