Staring in the Mirror

when I was a kid I

didn’t know what on earth my

old lady body was going to look like but

turns out it’s the same as my middle aged

body, not much different from my

young one either: nowadays

breasts are a bit wan, hips

awfully Rubenesque but nothing new;

I supposed I would turn wrinkled and papery

at this age

knobby and cranky

shaped all asunder but actually

looking in the mirror I am amazed by how rosy

my flesh is after 75 years of wear;

eyes however have seen it all.
