I Am a Woman

you can tell because

I am compassionate like Dr. Schweitzer

but absent-minded – when

I wrap a bandage on your

wound half way through I

start thinking about lipstick or menstrual cycles

and wander away – but it’s just

an unintended consequence of femininity

and when I minister

to your heathen village

I always begin with the good

parts – heaven and angels – then

all of a sudden forget

I am preaching and dream

about my wedding and cake

and the flowers – especially the flowers –

I want white camellias.
