A Little Lost

I run through Manhattan

gazelle-like mossy and pert

down Sixth

past a yakiniku cart

scything through crowds dazed

within some Zazen dream

next time I look

around I am smack amid

a meadow spattered with rocky pattern

where’s the city? I ask a fellow wallowed under an elm

back that way he points, I’ll show you

and yes, there it is

across the river

unexpected detour I say

I start running again
